European window and facade systems work a little differently from what is standard in the U.S. Here is what people ask us most.
Who manufactures Quinox windows and doors?
Quinox is a distributor and installer, not a manufacturer. Our systems come from established European manufacturers: Aluprof (the MB-70, MB-79N SI and MB-86N SI windows and the MB-77HS and MB-Skyline sliding systems), Drutex (the IGLO vinyl line, including IGLO HS and Edge Slide patio doors) and ELVIAL (the W59, W67 and W77 windows and the FS50 and FS50 SG curtain-wall systems).
Does Quinox install, or only supply?
Both. We handle the full chain on the U.S. side: on-site measurement, shop drawings, logistics, installation by our own crews, and after-sales support. One U.S. company stays accountable for the finished result.
What areas of the United States do you serve?
We supply nationwide and operate from two offices: an East Coast office in Towson, Maryland and a West Coast office in Sacramento, California. Tell us where the project is and we will confirm coverage.
What is the difference between tilt-and-turn and American double-hung windows?
A double-hung window slides vertically within its frame. A tilt-and-turn window is hinged twice: turn the handle once and it tilts inward at the top for secure ventilation; turn it again and the whole sash swings inward like a door, for cleaning and egress. Tilt-and-turn units seal against the frame with compression gaskets on all four sides, which is why they typically outperform sliding sashes on air infiltration and sound.
Aluminum or vinyl — which should I choose?
Aluminum gives you the slimmest sightlines and the largest possible glass areas, so it suits contemporary architecture, big openings and commercial work. Vinyl (PVC) generally gives you the best thermal performance per dollar for standard residential openings. Both of our lines are thermally broken or multi-chamber, so both can meet demanding energy codes — the choice usually comes down to span, sightline and budget.
What U-factors do Quinox systems achieve?
It depends on the system and glazing. As examples from our current range, the IGLO Edge Slide reaches a U-factor as low as 0.11 Btu/h·ft²·°F, IGLO HS around 0.125, and MB-Skyline around 0.15. Ask us for the exact NFRC-rated value for your configuration — it changes with glass package, size and spacer.
Do your systems meet U.S. standards and building codes?
Yes. Our systems are tested to U.S.-relevant standards including NFRC (energy performance), AAMA and ASTM (structural and weather performance), with sound ratings through Keystone Certifications (STC). Selected systems, such as the MB-79N SI, are rated for Florida high-velocity hurricane zones (TAS/HVHZ). We will confirm the specific approvals that apply to your project and jurisdiction.
What is a bioclimatic louvered pergola?
A bioclimatic pergola is an outdoor structure whose roof is made of adjustable aluminum louvers rather than a fixed panel. Rotating the louvers lets you control sun, shade and airflow through the day, and closing them fully sheds rain — which turns a terrace into a space you can use across the seasons. Our ALTEA pergola is rated for winds up to 105 mph.
What are the lead times?
Because units are fabricated in Europe to your exact dimensions, lead time depends on the system, the size of the order and the season. We confirm a firm lead time in writing with your quote, before you commit.
